The 4. Räumbootsflottille was formed in 1 April 1940 and was initially commanded by Hagen Küster, this flotilla was made up of the following 1936-42 Type and 1937-43 Type R-boats and was deployed for minesweeping and security duties.

The 4. Räumbootsflottille was disbanded in 1945.
