History

The R128 R-boat (Räumboot) was built in the 1940s by Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard located in Lemwerder, Germany as a minesweeper or escort vessel for the Kriegsmarine.

And which served in the 1. Räumbootsflottille and 4. Räumbootsflottille during the Second World War.

And after the capitulation of the Third Reich was employed in the German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) and United States Labour Service Unit B (LSU-B) which were controlled by the allies.

The R-boat R128 is commissioned.

1943
The R-boat R128 becomes operational with the 1. Räumbootsflottille.

1943
The R-boat R128 becomes operational with the 4. Räumbootsflottille.

1945
The R-boat R128 serves with the German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA).

1 December 1947
The R-boat R128 is seized as a prize of war by the USA.

28 May 1948
The R-boat R128 is transferred to A Zedler of Lübeck, as an accommodation vessel.

17 October 1949
The R-boat R128 is transferred to W Schnaas of Neuwied as the Rhine tug Annegret.

15 September 1953
The Annegret the serves with the United States Labour Service Unit B (LSU-B) as the USN 151.

16 November 1956
The USN 151 is renamed to Arkturus whilst serving with the German Federal Navy (Bundesmarine).

31 May 1963
The Arkturus is taken out of active service and used as the accommodation vessel WBRXVII.

1968
The WBRXVII is used as the target ship Moritz 2.

14 March 1968
The Moritz 2 is sunk after sustaining severe fire damage, at Wilhelmshaven, naval arsenal.
