History

The R43 R-boat (Räumboot) was built in the 1940s by Germany as a minesweeper or escort vessel for the Kriegsmarine.

And which served in the 1. Räumbootsflottille and 4. Räumbootsflottille during the Second World War.

And after the capitulation of the Third Reich was employed in the German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) and the Office of Military Government, United States (OMGUS). which were controlled by the allies.

The R-boat R43 becomes operational with the 1. Räumbootsflottille.

1940
The R-boat R43 becomes operational with the 4. Räumbootsflottille.

5 December 1944
The R-boat R43 is removed from active service.

1945
The R-boat R43 is seized as a prize of war by the USA.

1945
The R-boat R43 serves with the German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA).

31 October 1946
The R-boat R43 is transferred to the Office of Military Government, United States (OMGUS).

1949
The R-boat R43 is transferred to the US Army BPE.
