295 British Royal Air Force (RAF) Lancasters bombers attacked Turin (North Italian armament centre) bombed by strongest force of aircraft ever sent from Britain to an Italian target 13 Lancasters lost. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Wellingtons carried out minelaying operations off Brest, Lorient and St Nazaire.

In Sicily. It was announced towns of Avola, Pachino, Scoglitti, Gela. Ispica, Licata, and Rosolini captured.

In Australasia. Second naval action within a week fought in Kula Gulf.

1st Antisubmarine Squadron sinks Kriegsmarine U-boat, U-506 near Portugal, 42-30N 16-30W.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). During 11-12 July 1943, Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) Wellingtons pound Trapani, Marsala, and Mazara del Vallo, and Montecorvino-Rovella airfield, and Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF) Troop Carrier Command drops paratroops in front of forward lines in battle area during 11-12 July 1943. More than 20 C-47 Skytrain transport aircraft fail to return from mission. During following day, B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers hit Messina railroad bridges. Medium bombers and light bombers hit Gerbini satellite field, Agrigento, Canicatti, and Milo airfield. Fighters hit trucks, trains, troops, tanks, and other targets during sweeps over Sicily. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) fighters and light bombers hit Milo airfield, Sicilian beaches, Termini harbour and town, Ninfa rail junction, several trains, numerous vehicles, and command targets throughout Sicily. Northwest African Coastal Air Force (NACAF) aircraft fly convoy escort and carry out shipping strikes in Tyrrhenian Sea and West of Corsica and Sardinia.

Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers attack harbour, ferry slip, and marshalling yard at Reggio di-Calabria, and ferry slip and railroad yards at Villa San Giovanni. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Bo Rizzo airfield while P-40 fighters patrol over Licata area. With bridgeheads firmly established in Sicily by end of day, British and United States troops make contact at Ragusa. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) heavy bombers bomb Reggio di Calabria airfield.

Fourteenth Air Force. 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers attack docks and shipping at Campha Port, shipping at Ha Long Bay, and railroad yards, power plant, and warehouses at Hongay. The heavy bombers claim critical damage to 2 freighters. P-40 fighters strafe trucks South of Ha Giang.

Fifth Air Force. 13 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb airfields and town area in Rabaul and vicinity. 2 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Lingat airfield and Selaroe Island villages. A lone B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bombs Garove.

Thirteenth Air Force. 10 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers attack Vila airfield, which is hit later in the day by B-24 Liberator heavy bombers on armed reconnaissance. 17 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers pound airfield on Ballale Island. Several fighters join Navy dive bombers in strikes on antiaircraft and bivouacs in Munda area.
