Delegates from 50 nations begin Conference on International Organisation in San Francisco for purpose of organising the United Nations.

Eighth Air Force. Almost 275 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers escorted by 4 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers groups bomb Plzen, Skoda armament works and airfield in Czechoslovakia. This is the Eighth's final heavy bomber mission against an industrial target. A comparable number of B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bombs transformer station near Traunstein, marshalling yards at Hallein and Bad Reichenhall, and marshalling yard at Salzburg. 4 fighters groups fly support.

Ninth Air Force. 296 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) medium bombers and light bombers strike Erding airfield and Freilassing ordnance depot. Fighters fly Air Force cover and escort missions, and operate in conjunction with United States XII Corps as it pushes along North bank of Danube Southeast of Passau and support XX Corps on the Danube at Regrensburg and surrounding areas. United States and Soviet forces establish contact near Torgau.

Twelfth Air Force. All combat operations are aimed at plugging retreat routes and disrupting transport in North Po Valley and points to the North. Medium bombers hit Adige River crossing at Cavarzere and marshalling yard at Gorizia, and attack 5 bridges and fills on Brenner line in Austria and North Italy, damaging 2 of the targets. Fighters and fighter-bombers harass retreating forces in North Po Valley. During 24-25 April 1945, light bombers and night fighters attack crossings of Adige and Po Rivers and the Canale Bianco, and strike airfields at Villafranca di Verona, Udine, and Bergamo, and marshalling yards at Brescia and Verona.

Fifteenth Air Force. 467 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers and B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb main marshalling yard station, and sidings, North and South main marshalling yards and freight yard at Linz, the major Austrian traffic centre along rail line running North to Prague, plus Wels marshalling yard an alternate and several targets. 119 P-38 Lightning fighters and P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers fly armed reconnaissance over North Italy, a few strafing road traffic. The P-38 Lightning fighters dive-bomb road and rail bridges and rail lines. P-38 Lightning fighters and P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers fly almost 300 sorties in escort of heavy bombers, P-38 Lightning fighters reconnaissance flights, and Mediterranean Allied Tactical Air Force (MATAF) B-26 Marauder medium bombers raids.

Tenth Air Force. 16 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-38 Lightning fighters attack truck parks, fuel dumps, and supply areas at Hopong and Hotang. 20 other P-38 Lightning fighters hit troops at Wan Kinglong and at other points in Central Burma battle area. Transports complete 445 sorties to forward areas, landing or dropping 624 tons of supplies.

Fourteenth Air Force. 2 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb railroad yards at Hongay. 4 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 4 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters damage bridge and knock out antiaircraft position North of Anyang. More than 50 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters and P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers hit river, road, and rail targets, troops, horses, and buildings in areas around Loning, Hsihhsiassuchi, Linfen, Kuanshuishih, Saiping, Yungcheng, Sichchuan, and Tsingsinghsien.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb harbour at Saigon, Balete Pass bridges, and Boeloedowang and Basco airfields. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, A-20 Havoc light bombers, and fighters concentrate on Cagayan Valley bridges and support ground forces around Balete Pass, Baguio, and Solvec Cove. Other Far East Air Force (FEAF) support missions continue in South Luzon from Ipo Dam to New Bosoboso, East of Santa Maria, Northeast of Siniloan, Anuling, Monte Banahao, near Legaspi, and South of Camalig, and in Monte Mandalagan, Monte Silay area.

Twentieth Air Force. General Joseph Smith assumes command of XX Bomber Command.
