January 1945, A-20 Havoc light bombers bomb motor transport
movements, lights, roads, and railroads throughout Po Valley.
Weather cancels medium bombers operations and prevents fighter-bombers
from completing XXII Tactical Air Command's only mission airborne
during the day.
Fifteenth Air Force. More than 400 United States Army Air
Force (USAAF) heavy bombers attack North and South marshalling
yards, a railroad bridge, and a highway bridge at Brod. Because
of overcast, only 1 of 112 heavy bombers sent against Zagreb
marshalling yard bombs target while others abort. 46 P-38
Lightning fighters bomb South railroad bridge at Doboj and
59 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers sweep from Zagreb to Gyor.
Other P-38 Lightning fighters fly reconnaissance missions
and reconnaissance escort and cover Mediterranean Allied Tactical
Air Force (MATAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers on supply run.
Tenth Air Force. 9 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers bomb troops and stores at Na-mon and
near Hsenwi. 28 fighter-bombers support ground forces in Si-U
and Namhkam battle sectors and along the Irrawaddy near Yenya-u,
Kyaukpyu, and Myitson. 4 others bomb causeway in lake at Mogok.
Troops, supplies, and artillery are hit by 80 fighter-bombers
at Tonghsim, Konghsa, Mankang, Mong Pa, Pangkawlong, Saihkao,
Man Hio, Man Mao, and other locations in North Burma. Transports
complete 500 sorties to forward areas.
Fourteenth Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Mongyu and vicinity, 5 bomb
Ishan, 8 hit shipping and rail targets at Song Cau, and 4
hit shipping, railroad targets, and bridge at Do Len. About
115 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers, P-40 fighters, and P-38
Lightning fighters on armed reconnaissance over South China
and North Indochina attack a great variety of targets covering
especially Wanting area.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). In principal missions of the day,
United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb La Carlota and
Bacolod airfields. A-20 Havoc light bombers attack shipping
at Salomague and Callaguip. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers,
A-20 Havoc light bombers, and fighter-bombers attack throughout
Luzon, hitting airfields, vehicles, storage areas, highways,
and a variety of other targets.
Twentieth Air Force. 62 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
XXI Bomber Command B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's hit Kawasaki
aircraft plant at Akashi. 9 others bomb alternates and targets
of opportunity.
Seventh Air Force. 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Saipan bomb harbour installations
at Chichi Jima. 9 from Guam hit airfields on Iwo Jima. 7 B-24
Liberator heavy bombers escort photo planes over the Bonin
and Kazan Islands and 1 bombs Iwo Jima. During the night 3
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers on individual snooper strikes
from the Marianas bomb Iwo Jima.
Eleventh Air Force. 1 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers flies radar ferret mission over
Shimushu and Onnekotan. 2 other B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
hit Matsuwa and Onnekotan.

launched against England, hit Barking.
V-2 rocket
launched against England, hit Wanstead / Woodford.
