depot and a target road junction. A P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers
group provides close escort. 4 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers
groups strafe rail and road transportation in East Netherlands
and North West Germany, while 1 other group bombs and strafes
a truck park in Germany.
Ninth Air Force. 97 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-26
Marauder medium bombers and A-20 Havoc light bombers bomb
Bingen and Modrath marshalling yards. Fighters fly armed reconnaissance
and patrols, attack special targets and targets, and attack
in cooperation with United States XII Corps across Sauer River
North West of Echternach.
Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) light
bombers on night intruder missions attack enemy movement and
lights at various points in North Italy, hit bridges in Po
Valley, and attack front line positions in North Apennines.
In Northeast and Central Po Valley and stores Weather grounds
medium bombers but fighters and fighter-bombers blast railroad
bridges and lines and supply dumps in Central and West Po
areas.
Fifteenth Air Force. Bad weather limits operations to B-24
Liberator heavy bombers supply mission to Yugoslavia during
10-11 February
1945, and to P-38 Lightning fighters reconnaissance missions.
Tenth Air Force. 11 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers bomb troops and supplies at Loilem.
22 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters support ground forces in Mongmit
area, hitting buildings at Nabu and Japanese positions South
of Myitson. 100 fighter-bombers pound troop concentrations,
supplies, ammunition dumps, gun positions, and targets at
several locations including Pangsang, Taung-gaing, Panghsapye,
Nam Pok, Byaungbyan, Manai, Kutkai, Mongmit, Namun, and Pangmahe-leng.
Transports complete 503 sorties to forward bases and over
front line areas dropping supplies.
Fourteenth Air Force. 17 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit railroad yards at Sinyang
and Lohochai and locomotive foundry at Hsuchang. 23 P-47 Thunderbolt
fighters pound Hankow airfield. 8 fighters hit Anyang airfield
and Pinghan railroad targets. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
claim 2 cargo vessels sunk in South China Sea.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers attack Corregidor almost continuously
throughout the day. Fighter-bombers support ground forces
blasting numerous targets from Cauringan to Taytay and at
Wawa, Montalban, Antipolo, and Marikina. P-47 Thunderbolt
fighters blast train Northeast of Heito. B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers fly light strike against Bago.
Twentieth Air Force. 56 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's bomb storage dumps around
Rangoon. Mission is flown in conjunction with B-24 Liberator
heavy bombers of Eastern Air Command's Strategic Air Force
which hit target. 9 B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's from
the Marianas carry out reconnaissance mission for Navy. 1
other returns early. Target area covers 135-00E to 148-00E
to 30-00N.
Seventh Air Force. 21 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Saipan, operating in 2 separate
forces, bomb airfields and defences on Iwo Jima. 3 others,
on armed reconnaissance, bomb Marcus. 25 B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers based on Angaur bomb Corregidor. During 11-
12
February 1945, 10 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Saipan
fly individual harassment strikes against Iwo Jima.
Eleventh Air Force. Of 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers off on an air cover mission for
a naval Task Force, only 3 reach the target.
