The British Royal Air Force (RAF) carried out bombing raids on the following

In Sicily. Gerbini and other airfields bombed.

Russian Front. On Orel-Kursk front, reported that 520 Wehrmacht panzers tanks put out of action and 229 Luftwaffe aircraft destroyed.

China entered 7th year of war with Japan.

Kriegsmarine U-boat, U-951, is sunk in East Atlantic, 37-40N 15-30W, by aircraft of 1st Antisubmarine Squadron.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) Wellingtons bomb Palermo and airfields at Villacidro, Milis, and Pabillonis during 6-7 July 1943. During the day, B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers, B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, and B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb Gerbini satellite fields and Bo Rizzo airfield, as P-40 fighters fly diversionary sweep over West part of Sicily. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) light bombers hit Sciacca during 6-7 July 1943, and the following day bomb airfields at Trapani, Biscari, Comiso, Bo Rizzo, and Mazara del Vallo, and hit Sciacca, Marsala radar station, Caltanissetta, and Porto Empedocle.

Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit airfields at Gerbini and rail line North of Brucoli. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb airfields and surrounding areas at Biscari and Comiso. P-40 fighters bomb and strafe airfields at Lucca.

Fourteenth Air Force. 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 22 P-40 fighters attack shipping at Canton. At least 2 interceptors are shot down.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, along with Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) aeroplanes, operate in direct support of Allied ground operations in Mubo area, dropping over 100 tons of bombs on numerous targets as MacKechnie Force begins assault on Bitoi Ridge and Australian forces 2nd 6th Battalion capture Observation Hill, an important terrain feature West of Mubo.

Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and P-38 Lightning fighters attack Vila airfield. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Kahili airfield.

Zone of Interior. Army Air Force Training Command is established to take over functions formerly assigned to the Technical Training and Flying Training Commands.
