Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Northwest African Strategic
Air Force (NASAF) Wellingtons hit Gerbini airfield and 2 satellites

1943. During predawn hours and throughout the day, light bombers
and medium bombers of Northwest African Tactical Air Force
(NATAF) bomb airfields at Biscari, Sciacca, Trapani, and Comiso.
Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) B-17 Flying
Fortress heavy bombers hit again hit Gerbini airfield and
3 satellite fields. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Biscari
airfield. Northwest African Coastal Air Force (NACAF) maintains
sea patrol and convoy protection.
Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24
Liberator heavy bombers strike satellite airfields at Gerbini.
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit airfields at Biscari and
Gerbini. P-40 fighters escort bombers, patrol, and carry out
dive bombing operations in Sicily.
Fourteenth Air Force. 5 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 8 P-40 fighters hit runway
and revetment area at Pailochi airfield.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers attack Penfoei airfield and hit Labu
Lagoon area.
Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers and B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers pound airfields at Kahili, on Ballale and on Buka
Islands. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit beached destroyer
at Bamberi.
Eleventh Air Force. 2 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and 2 P-40 fighters on 3 weather
reconnaissance missions report Kiska overcast, and take photos
of Segula. 6 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Main Camp.
8 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers abort a radar run over Kiska
when 1 has engine trouble and the others fail to locate Ventura
Pathfinder. They sight a submarine which crash dives immediately.
