In afternoon B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb landing ground
near Protville and P-40 fighters hit vessels along Northeast
Tunisian coast. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF)
fighters, Light bombers, and medium bombers attack shipping
in Gulf of Tunis, positions at Mateur and Derourhi, concentrations
South West of Saint-Cyprien and Northeast of Ksar Tyr, and
landing craft near Tunis.
Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers attack ground installations, in battle
area. P-40 fighters escort bombers and fly bombing and strafing
operations against vessels as far North as Zembra Island.
Tenth Air Force. 9 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers attack shipping at Rangoon. 18 others
bomb Myitnge engine sheds and the oft-attacked Myitnge bridge.
6 P-40 fighters bomb and strafe Tahona.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers bomb Koepang. B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers hit Halong while individual heavy bombers attack Finschhafen,
Madang Gumbi, and in Singor area.
Thirteenth Air Force. Single United States Army Air Force
(USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Numa and Vila. 2
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers hit Kahili. P-38 Lightning
fighters, along with Navy and Marine aeroplanes, pound Gatere
and Pelipelpi Bay. 6 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit Kieta
while P-39 fighters join Navy aircraft in pounding bivouac
area at Vila airfield.
