in Gulf of Tunis and near Cap Bon, and attack isolated vehicles
and troops along battle line as United States II Corps makes
substantial gains in Jefna area.

Liberator heavy bombers attack Messina ferry; bombs hit target
area and nearby marshalling yard and city area. P-40 fighters
fly fighter-bomber missions against shipping with excellent
results, claiming 1 destroyer and 3 other vessels sunk, and
2 destroyers and 2 boats damaged. Fighters claim 5

109's shot down. 3 P-40 fighters are lost.
Tenth Air Force. 16 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers pound Gokteik Viaduct, damaging the
North end. 4 others bomb Maymyo railroad yards. 5 B-24 Liberator
heavy bombers bomb Sule Pagoda wharves at Rangoon. 4 P-40
fighters and a B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Mohnyin, while
6 P-40 fighters attack camp South of Weshi.
Fifth Air Force. Single United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Lae and airfields at Cape
Gloucester and Gasmata.
Thirteenth Air Force. 5 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb bivouac area and revetments
at Kahili airfield.
Eleventh Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, 17 P-38 Lightning fighters,
and 7 P-40 fighters fly 4 missions to Kiska. Only the P-38
Lightning fighters get through and blast Gertrude Cove, Main
Camp, the submarine base and a ship.
