B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and 16 P-38 Lightning fighters
hit Kahili airfield. 36 P-40 fighters and P-39 fighters join
60 Navy dive bombers and fighters in strike on Kara airfield.
Both Kahili and Kara are attacked again later in the day,
the former by 6 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and 16 Navy fighters
and the latter by 35 Army Air Force fighters and 42 Navy dive
bombers. 6 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Kakasa.
Seventh Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Fighters
shoot down a Japanese flying boat 70 miles South of Baker
Island.
