Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF).During

July 1943 Wellingtons bomb Cagliari barracks and railway
station. Northwest African Coastal Air Force (NACAF) flies
patrol, reconnaissance, and convoy protection.
Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40
fighters, along with Twelfth Air Force fighters, fly armed
reconnaissance of South Sicily and convoy patrol in Cap Bon
area and off Kebili. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Halifaxes
hit Catania railway yards.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) A-20
Havoc light bombers bomb and strafe forces in Duali area as
nearby Allied troops consolidate positions along South arm
of Bitoi River. Other A-20 Havoc light bombers strafe Lae
area. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Kela Point and Logui.
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers and B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers bomb airfields at Rabaul.
