Censorship of the press messages from Moscow reimposed.

Fierce hand-to-hand fighting on frozen Suvanto River near Mannerheim line.

Finns claimed to have wiped out two Russian companies. Reported that Russians have brought up picked Ogpu troops into Karelian Isthmus.

The British air ministry announced successful reconnaissance of north-west Germany, an 27 December 1939. One aircraft failed to return.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) fighters chased unidentified aircraft from Scottish coast.

The British Admiralty announced that the trawler HMS Loch Doon must be considered lost with a crew of fifteen.

The Danish steamer, Hanne was sunk by a mine. Eight survivors out of forty three of the British freighter Navasota torpedoed early in December, landed at Cape Town.

The French Senate accepted a budget of £ 450,000,000 after a stirring speech by M Reynaud, Finance Minister.

German authorities announced that the entire population (70,000) of the Polish town of Kalisz were to be deported to make room the German Balts.
