Articles: The Henschel Hs 294 was a anti-ship missile Designed and developed
by
Henschel und Sohn
in 1941 under the leadership of Dr.-Ing. Herbert
Alois Wagner.
The Henschel Hs 294 this weapon was intended to be
deployed against Allied shipping. The Henschel Hs 294 was a further development
of the
Hs 293 by Dipl.-Ing. Herbert
Alois Wagner and his team at
Henschel
und Sohn.
The Henschel Hs 294 had a slender conical shape with a
pair of straight stubby wings, the rocket motor used was 2 ×

The control system that was employed for the Henschel Hs 294 was the FuG 203 transmitter
and the FuG 230 receiver, having been guided to its target by radio control. The
missile, then crashed in to the water and the wings and rear fuselage broke off
at the designed weak points. Which allowed the missile to continue towards the
target under its own momentum submerged. detonation was achieved by a standard
naval proximity fuse.
A production contract was initially given for 1,300
Hs 294 A-0 to be built however the actual number is not known, a second contract
was issued for the production of 300 Hs 294 V-2 this variant was similar to the
Hs 294 A-0 variant but with trailing edge wing spoiler controls, approximately
56 of this variant was produced. 25 Hs 294 A-0 variants were modified to allow
for television guidance systems to be install like had been done with the
Henschel
Hs 293D. The Henschel Hs 294 was not used operationally.
