The 30 mm SG 116 (30 mm Sonder Gerät 116) was a recoilless
cannon designed produced by
Rheinmetall-Borsig
in 1944. The 30 mm SG 116 was a modified version of the
30
mm MK 103, and was designed so that Luftwaffe pilots could
engage bomber formations by flying underneath.
The 30 mm SG 116 was arranged in the following configurations,
four pieces in rhombic shape in the trunk, six pieces in two
or three triangle pieces in line with the fuselage side with
a Spreitzung of 2 degrees.
The weapon was triggered with a photoelectric cell, which
was manufactured by Opta-Radio.
The 30 mm SG 116 underwent extensive testing at Rechlin Lutwaffe
facilities in late 1944 with a
