History

The R67 R-boat (Räumboot) was built in the 1940s by Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard located in Lemwerder, Germany as a minesweeper or escort vessel for the Kriegsmarine.

And which served in the 1. Räumbootsflottille during World War II.

And after the capitulation of the Third Reich was employed in the German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) which was controlled by the allies.

Career

1941
The R-boat R67 is commissioned.

1941
The R-boat R67 becomes operational with the 1. Räumbootsflottille.

1945
The R-boat R67 serves with the German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA).

1 December 1947
The R-boat R67 is seized as a prize of war by the USA.

27 May 1948
The R-boat R67 is renamed to Helligenlei.

23 November 1950
The Helligenlei. is transferred to Schiffges Jade of Wilhelmshaven, as the motor ferry Rüstringen.

15 September 1953
The Rüstringen serves with the German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) as USN 130.

30 October 1956
The Rüstringen is renamed to Wega whilst serving with the German Federal Navy (Bundesmarine).

2 March 1962
The Wega is used as an accommodation vessel WBRXII, with the Münster naval cadets.

1967
The Wega is renamed again to Friedrich Lührmann.

1978
The Friedrich Lührmann is sunk by fire.
