History

The R22 R-boat (Räumboot) was built in the 1930s by Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard located in Lemwerder, Germany as a minesweeper or escort vessel for the Kriegsmarine.

And which served in the 1. Räumbootsflottille during the Second World War.

The R-boat R22 is commissioned.

1937
The R-boat R21 becomes operational with the 1. Räumbootsflottille.

13 October 1947
The R-boat R22 is seized as a prize of war by the USA.

17 June 1948
The R-boat R22 is sold to J Knecht of Bremen, named as Ostfresland III.

18 March 1952
The Ostfresland III is is renamed Twist.

5 April 1954
The Twist is again sold but this time, broken up and cannibalised.
