The Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen (Furniture Van) because
of its boxy turret when closed, or 2 cm Flakvierling auf Fahrgestell
Panzerkampfwagen IV Selbstfahrlafette or abbreviated to 2
cm Flak auf Fgst Pz.Kpfw. IV (Sf) was a self-propelled antiaircraft
built from the chassis of the Panzer IV.
During the first part of 1943, the idea of making a gun platform
on the chassis of the Panzer IV was first suggested. The prototype
was displayed to Adolf
Hitler on 7
December 1943, and used a 2
cm Flakvierling 38 that was viewed as too weak for the
latest aircraft, which were perpetually flying higher and
faster. Only a single prototype with this gun was produced
before the design was declined.
