and over 20 targets, including Gotha marshalling yard. 15
P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers groups fly support and 2 of the
groups strafe ground targets.
Ninth Air Force. 261 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
medium bombers and light bombers attack Rheinbach ammunition
dump, Sotenich command centre, Vlatten defended village, Berg
Gladbach motor transport centre, and several casual targets.
Fighters fly armed reconnaissance, alert flights and patrols,
dive-bomb Horrem bridge, cut rails, and escort 9th Bomber
Division.
Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers attack railroad targets on the line
running North to Brenner Pass, damaging bridges at Rovereto
and Ala. Marshalling yards at Rovereto and San Ambrogio di
Valpolicella and bridge at Crema are less successfully hit.
Fighter-bombers cut railroad bridges at Nervesa della Battaglia
and San Michele all'Adige. The P-47 Thunderbolt fighters claim
3 fighters destroyed in combat North of Verona and attack
numerous targets throughout target areas During

February 1945, A-20 Havoc light bombers attack lights, roads,
and motor transport in Central Po Valley.
Fifteenth Air Force. Bad weather permits only supply and reconnaissance
missions. 5 P-38 Lightning fighters complete weather and photo
reconnaissance while 12 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and 1
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers drop supplies in Yugoslavia.
Tenth Air Force. 86 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-47
Thunderbolt fighters and P-38 Lightning fighters and 25 B-25
Mitchell medium bombers pound troop concentrations, supplies,
and antiaircraft positions in Lashio area. 4 P-38 Lightning
fighters damage approach to Mong Tong bridge. Transports complete
514 sorties, carrying men and supplies to forward areas.
Fourteenth Air Force. 20 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers pound and considerably damage
Peking airfield, claiming 7 aeroplanes destroyed. Other fighter-bombers
on armed reconnaissance hit several targets mainly rail and
river traffic around Tsingpu, Wuhu, Suchow, Hsiangcheng, Ichang,
Chingmen, and Yungning. Fighter-bombers sink numerous river
craft on Mekong River from Wan Mai-Lo to Nguen.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Corregidor gun positions.
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and P-38 Lightning fighters hit
Echague and camp on Rosario Baguio road. A-20 Havoc light
bombers attack gun positions and defences at Nichols Field
in support of ground forces and bomb Caballo Island. A-20
Havoc light bombers attack Fabrica airfield. B-24 Liberator
heavy bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers fly coastal
sweeps hitting various targets at Divilacan Bay, Hondagua,
and Bicol Peninsula. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, with P-38
Lightning fighters support hit Manggar and Sepinggang airfields.
Seventh Air Force. 9 Guam based United States Army Air Force
(USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit antiaircraft defences
and radar and radio installations on Iwo Jima. 10 more bomb
Ototo Jima island and town of Omura. 1 B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers from Angaur bombs Koror, 2 hit Bulan airfields and
19 bomb Corregidor. 8 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Guam
fly individual strikes against Iwo Jima airfields during 6-

February 1945.
