B-26 Marauder medium bombers, A-26 Invader light bombers,
and A-20 Havoc light bombers bomb road and rail bridges to
block East West movement East of the Rhine and defended localities
East of battlefront in West Germany. Fighters hit bridges
and fly escort, armed reconnaissance and patrols, and support
United States Third Army elements along the Our-Sauer Rivers.
Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) medium
bombers, taking advantage of improving weather conditions
in Northeast Italy, hit bridges at Lavis, Chiusaforte, Calliano,
Mantua, Rovereto, Calcinato, and Dogna. Bad weather at bases
restricts XXII Tactical Air Command aircraft to 5 weather
reconnaissance sorties.
Fifteenth Air Force. Bad weather cancels bombing operations.
1 B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers and 1 B-24 Liberator
heavy bombers drop supplies in North Italy. 33 P-51 Mustang
fighter-bombers, with 14 others flying top cover, strafe Kurilovec
airfield. 11 other P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers escort The
British Royal Air Force (RAF) supply dropping mission over
Yugoslavia. 11 P-38 Lightning fighters fly photo and weather
reconnaissance. Photo reconnaissance is covered by 24 other
P-38 Lightning fighters.
Tenth Air Force. 11 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers pound troops and supplies at Loilem.
60 fighter-bombers support ground forces in Molo, Hosi, and
Mabein areas. Troops, supplies, town areas, and vehicles are
attacked at Panma, Kan-loi, Pansak, Man Ho Pang, Pongkalau,
Hsenwi, Namtu, Panghai, Kong kang, and Ondon. Transports complete
485 sorties to forward bases and over front line areas.
Fourteenth Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-40 fighters attack regimental Headquarters and a storage
area at Lungchow.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers continue to pound Corregidor
and Cavite. In the Cagayan Valley B-25 Mitchell medium bombers
attack pillboxes, gun positions, and river barges. A-20 Havoc
light bombers hit Baler Bay area. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
hit Okayama airfield during dawn raid.
Thirteenth Air Force. Colonel Carl A Brandt becomes Commanding
Officer XIII Bomber Command.
Seventh Air Force. 20 Guam based United States Army Air Force
(USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers pound Iwo Jima storage
area. During 2-

February 1945, 10 more, flying individual harassment raids,
bomb the island's airfields. 4 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters,
on reconnaissance flight, strafe buildings on Pagan. 22 B-24
Liberator heavy bombers from Angaur bomb Corregidor.
