B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, some with P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers
support, hit supply movement in Siang Chiang Valley, bomb
railroad yards at Siaokan and Sinyang, and hit coastal shipping
in Do Son area. 50 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers and P-38 Lightning
fighters concentrate on attacking river shipping at numerous
points of Indochina and South and East China also hitting
road and rail traffic, coastal vessels, storage areas, and
bridges.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). 60 Fifth and Seventh Air Force
United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers pound marshalling yard at Kagoshima. 50 escorting
P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers attack numerous nearby targets.
150 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters over Kyushu hit command and
industrial targets, including tunnel South of Kurino, bridges
at Okasa, Hitosuse-gawa, and Matsubase, and factories and
power plant at Yatsushiro. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers of
Thirteenth Air Force hit airstrip North of Pontianak.
Twentieth Air Force. During 27-
28
July 1945, 24 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-29 Superfortress
heavy bomber's drop mines in Shimonoseki Strait, at Fukuoka,
Niigata, Maizuru, Senzaki, and in Fukawa Bay.
