Luchai, Hwangshapu, Kiyang, Kweilin, Kaifeng, and Shihkiachwang.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, A-20 Havoc light bombers, and
fighter-bombers pound Cagayan Valley targets and numerous
other objectives throughout North Luzon. Many of the strikes
support United States Sixth Army forces. B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers pound Balikpapan area oil targets and gun positions.
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and P-38 Lightning fighters hit
Limbang town and sweep from Beaufort to Jesselton, hitting
Beaufort buildings, several command targets at various points,
and personnel areas at Labuan Island. B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers bomb industrial and railroad targets at Kiirun. P-38
Lightning fighters pound railroad bridge and trucks at Soton.
Twentieth Air Force. 450 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's bomb urban areas of Kagoshima,
Omuta, Hamamatsu, and Yokkaichi, with incendiaries, while
25 others mine Shimonoseki Strait and waters around Kobe all
during 17-
18
June 1945.
Seventh Air Force. 33 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-47 Thunderbolt fighters from Ie Shima bomb and strafe shipping,
airfield, villages, bridge and radar and radio facilities
on Amami Gunto and Tokuno. During 17-
18
June 1945, 2 P-61 Black Widow, night
fighters from Ie Shima fly unsuccessful due to
weather intruder strike over Amami Gunto and Kyushu. This
begins a campaign of night and day intruder missions over
Kyushu Island and the Ryukyu Islands by the night fighters
12 more are flown during June 1945.
Eleventh Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb shipping near Kataoka. One
ship is observed exploding, another burns after a strafing
run. 4 other B-25 Mitchell medium bombers fly a shipping sweep
from Shimushu to Kurabu Cape. A number of vessels are sighted
but cannot be attacked because of land based antiaircraft.
