Eighth Air Force. 650 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) heavy bombers, supported by 8 fighters groups in close escort and 3 more in area sweeps, bomb 3 oil refineries, 2 viaducts, a marshalling yard, a U-boat yard, an airfield, and targets in North West Germany. The fighters strafe rail target.

Ninth Air Force. Weather cancels all bomber operations and limits fighters. XIX Tactical Air Command flies night patrol while IX Tactical Air Command flies leaflet mission and patrols XIX Corps area around Hurtgen Forest.

Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) medium bombers, taking advantage of improved weather conditions, attack 6 rail targets on Brenner rail line, blocking line at Calliano, cutting tracks at Ora, and destroying a section of bridge at Sacile. In Northeast Italy fighters and fighter-bombers concentrate large effort on rail lines and bridges, destroying 4 and damaging another, cutting tracks at numerous points, and blasting vehicles and trains.

Fifteenth Air Force. Continued bad weather cancels all operations.

Tenth Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers demolish 2 bypass bridges at Ho-hko. 8 pound village of Mansam. 20 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters support ground forces along the Irrawaddy, hitting targets at Konkha, Onbaing, and Wabyudaung. Troop concentrations and supplies are bombed by 75 fighter-bombers at Nawngchio, No-na, Man Hpa-yaw, Man Namket, Nanhu, Panghai, Mong Nge, and Ho-Pok. Transports fly 489 sorties to forward bases and front line areas.

Fourteenth Air Force. 12 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb town area, river shipping, and trucks at Ishan. 3 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 8 P-40 fighters pound sampans and storage areas West of Hengshan while 2 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit oil dump and other targets in Hsiang Valley and another blasts troop compound at Chaling. 4 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers damage bridge at Phu Lang Thuong. 180 P-40 fighters, P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers, and P-38 Lightning fighters hit large number of targets from Burma border to Shanghai, concentrating on Wanling area and airfields in Shanghai, Wuchou and Wuchang areas.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). In principal strikes of the day United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb railroad yards at Legaspi while B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit roads and railways East of Manila, destroying many railroad cars and troop-laden trucks. Other B-24 Liberator heavy bombers pound Daliao area on Mindanao and Talisay airfield. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, A-20 Havoc light bombers, and fighter-bombers continue to fly small strikes and armed reconnaissance against bridges, shipping, port areas, airfields, trucks, and other targets throughout Luzon and at Central Philippine Islands.

Twentieth Air Force. Almost 80 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's, out of Chengtu, bomb airfields at Shinchiku. 8 other very heavy bombers hit alternates and targets in Southeast China.

Seventh Air Force. 14 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Saipan pound airfields on Iwo Jima. 3 from Guam, on armed reconnaissance flight, bomb Marcus. 2 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, from Guam and Saipan, fly individual harassment strikes against Iwo Jima during 17-18 January 1945.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Mayland.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Bengeo.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Essendon.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Corringham Marshes.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit East Horndon.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Hatfield Broad Oak.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Much Hadham.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Chingford.
