Joint Chiefs of Staff. General MacArthur and Arnold and Admiral Nimitz are directed to prepare for immediate occupation of Japan in the event the enemy suddenly collapses or surrenders.

Fourteenth Air Force. 42 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers attack bridges, shipping, antiaircraft positions, railroad targets, trucks, and command around Hengyang, Hankow, Yoyang, Lingling, Anyang, Szeshui, Hohsien, Shihkiachwang, Neikiuhsien and Puchou.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, A-20 Havoc light bombers, and fighter-bombers pound areas around Cagayan Valley, Cervantes and North of Baguio and East of Manila. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb warehouses at Parepare and personnel area at Sidate. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Balikpapan antiaircraft positions.
