missions.
Twelfth Air Force. Large-scale redeployment of Twelfth Air
Force units officially begins although first large movement
to Zone of Interior has earlier taken place on

January 1945, followed by redeployment of various units
to all the theatres. On 12 May 1945, the Twelfth has 198 units
assigned and 8 attached. By the end of May 1945, 17 assigned
units will be redeployed from the theatre, 43 assigned service
units disbanded and personnel used to form 21 new service
units, 9 assigned units transferred to other Headquarters
in the theatre, and 1 attached unit released leaving 150 assigned
and 7 attached units intact.
Fourteenth Air Force. 17 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 8 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers
bomb barracks and storage area at Loyang and hit railroad
targets around Sinsiang and Sinyang, from Hankow to Sinyang,
from Chenghsien to Szeshui, from Kioshan to Lohochai, and
between Hengshan and Yoyang and knock out bridge North of
Hengyang. 150 fighter-bombers again hit scattered targets
in South and East China, concentrating on road, rail, and
river traffic and supply lines.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
A-20 Havoc light bombers and fighter-bombers support ground
forces on Luzon and Negros. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers pound
several railroad and road bridges at Binh Dinh, Phu My, Bong
Son, Lai Ha, Tuy Hoa, and Phu Hiep and attack railroad yard
at An Trach and other railroad targets. B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers, B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, and P-38 Lightning
fighters hit targets in Brunei Bay area including Labuan,
Brooketon, and Jesselton airfields and troops on Tarakan Island.
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Makassar shipyards and Limboeng
airfield.
Seventh Air Force. 9 Guam based United States Army Air Force
(USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb airfields on Marcus
while 12 more
hit airfields on Param.
