heavy bomber's claim 9 fighters downed on Kobe mission. Missions
against Japanese airfields terminate air campaign, begun on
17 April 1945,
during which Twentieth Air Force has devoted major effort
toward hitting sources of Kamikaze raids against United States
Navy and Marine forces in the Battle of Okinawa.
Seventh Air Force. 14 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers from Iwo Jima strafe and bomb
radio station at Chichi Jima. 10 Guam based B-24 Liberator
heavy bombers hit airfields on Param, while 13 pound Marcus
Island runways.
