Force (USAAF) A-20 Havoc light bombers, A-26 Invader light bombers, and B-26 Marauder
medium bombers attack command centres and rail bridges in
Belgium and Germany. Fighters escort bombers, hit Mayen ammunition
dump, and patrol areas around Malmedy and Northeast of Trier.
Twelfth Air Force. During
10-11
January 1945, United States Army Air Force (USAAF) light bombers
attack targets in West Po Valley. Clearing weather during
the day enables increase of fighters and fighter-bomber attacks
in Po Valley and in United States Fifth Army battle area in
the North Apennines. Many ammunition and fuel dumps, rail
lines, trains, and vehicles are pounded, and an alcohol refinery
at Piacenza is severely damaged.
Fifteenth Air Force. Bad weather limits operations. P-38 Lightning
fighters fly reconnaissance and reconnaissance escort missions.
Tenth Air Force. 12 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-47
Thunderbolt fighters support ground forces in Si-U and Namhkam
sectors. 3 others strafe trucks between Namkham and Selan.
Troop concentrations, vehicles, artillery pieces, supply areas,
and general enemy movement are pounded by 80 fighter-bombers.
12 B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb storage buildings in
Lashio area. 609 transport sorties are flown to forward areas.
Fourteenth Air Force. 5 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers damage bridge at Wan Mai-Lo.
12 fighter-bombers hit targets Northeast of Wanling, 7 drop
napalm on targets Northeast of Muse, and 11 attack targets
Southeast of Wanting and in East end of Wanting River valley.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). Large numbers of United States
Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, B-25
Mitchell medium bombers, A-20 Havoc light bombers, and fighter-bombers
concentrate on command targets throughout North Luzon and
attack airfields, command, and town areas in South Luzon,
Central Phil, and on Mindanao. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers
and P-38 Lightning fighters attack Kendari airfield.
Twentieth Air Force. 25 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's out of Calcutta bomb 2 large
dry docks at Singapore. Around 15 others bomb Penang Island,
Mergui, and various targets.
Seventh Air Force. 23 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Saipan pound airfields on
Iwo Jima. Bombing of Iwo Jima is continued during 11-
12
January 1945, by 3 heavy bombers flying individual snooper
strikes from the Marianas.
Eleventh Air Force. 3 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers on an armed reconnaissance to
Suribachi bomb North West of Taro Lake. 5 B-25 Mitchell medium
bombers hit Kotani Shima.
V-2 rocket
launched against England, hit Battlesbridge.
