heavy bombers hit Amiens, Glisy airfield and nearby targets,
airfield is severely damaged. 36 B-26 Marauder medium bombers
bomb Lille, Vendeville airfield, and 34 others strike power
station at Mazingarbe.
Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). About 150 Northwest African
Strategic Air Force (NASAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers
blast Pisa marshalling yard, doing large amount of damage.
Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) medium bombers
and light bombers bomb Cosenza marshalling yard and road railway
junction in Catanzaro during morning, and in afternoon bomb
area around Cosenza when clouds prevent hitting specific targets.
Fighter-bombers hit Sapri railroads and seaplane base. During
night light bombers hit bivouac areas Southeast of Reggio
di Calabria.
Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24
Liberator heavy bombers bomb Pescara marshalling yard. Heavy
bombers claim 9 enemy fighters destroyed.
Fourteenth Air Force. 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Gia Lam airfield. 22 P-40
fighters and 2 P-38 Lightning fighters bomb dike near Co Bi
barracks. 6 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Ichang airfield
while 3 others attack oil storage area to the East. P-40 fighters
also hit the oil stores. 3 P-40 fighters claim heavy damage
to freighter off Stonecutter's Island near Hong Kong. 4 P-38
Lightning fighters dive-bomb Yoyang railroad yards and Sinti
warehouses. A P-38 Lightning fighters is shot down by ground
fire.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Bombers
fly scattered strikes against shipping and shore targets in
Saint George Channel, and Netherlands East Indies (NEI).
Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-40 fighters, in running battle over Vella Lavella, claim
5 Japanese aeroplanes shot down. Other P-40 fighters strafe
barges in Timbala Bay. 22 it could B-25 Mitchell medium bombers
and 50 Navy aeroplanes bomb gun positions and radio station
at Vila.
