Twelfth Air Force. All administrative functions of the Army Air Force elements of Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF) are transferred to the appropriate Twelfth Air Force organisations, Headquarters Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF) to Headquarters Twelfth Air Force, Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) to XII Bomber Command, Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) to XII A Support Command, Northwest African Coastal Air Force (NACAF) to XII Fighter Command, Northwest African Air Service Command (NAASC) to XII Air Force Services Command, Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF) Troop Carrier Command to XII Troop Carrier Command (Provisional), North West African Photo Reconnaissance Wing to Photo Reconnaissance Wing (Provisional), and Northwest African Training Command to XII Training Command (Provisional). Operational control remains with Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). P-40 fighters bomb zinc plant at Iglesias and strafe factory North of Gonnesa. Medium bombers and light bombers hit Bova Marina, areas near Salina and Sant' Eufemia d'Aspromonte town area and bridge at Oliveto, and radar station and lighthouse at Capo Spartivento.

Fourteenth Air Force. 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, supported by 8 P-40 fighters, attack Japanese destroyer at Shihhweiyao, no hits are scored on the ship but considerable damage is done to surrounding dock area. 6 P-40 fighters sink small tanker down river from Ichang, damage 2 large boats between Ocheng and Shihhweiyao, and strafe cavalry troops at Ocheng. 3 other P-40 fighters heavily damage small ship at Swatow harbour and strafe nearby airfield. 3 P-38 Lightning fighters and a P-40 dive-bomb and strafe barracks at Yangsin, demolishing 3 buildings. 2 nearby locomotives are also destroyed. The fighter-bombers then heavily damage small steamer at Wuchang, sink 1 tug and damage another at Kutang, and blast a train and antiaircraft position South of Puchi.

Fifth Air Force. Approximately 70 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Alexishafen-Madang area, dropping 201 tons of bombs (heaviest by Fifth Air Force to date). Other B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Iboki Plantation, barges on Bubui River, Rein Bay area and several villages in New Britain. B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb Labu Island. B-26 Marauder medium bombers attack Cape Gloucester area. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers strike targets in Lesser Sunda Islands.

Seventh Air Force. From this date through 14 September 1943, 6 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers conduct daily sea search operations out of Canton Island.

Eleventh Air Force. 2 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters attempting to intercept aircraft reported near Attu abort because of weather.
