Twelfth Air Force. XII Bomber Command P-38 Lightning fighters, B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, and B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb road and rail and road bridges at Ausonia, Piana, Castelvenere, Amorosi, and Capua, and carry out sweeps from Bastia to Elba Island. 7 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Benevento and surrounding rail and road comm. XII A Support Command Fighter and bomber's carry out strafing and bombing missions North and Northeast of Naples as Avellino falls to United States 3d Division.

Fourteenth Air Force. 2 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 4 P-40 fighters claim heavy damage to gunboat at Fort Bayard.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers fly light raids against Boela, Sorong, and Manatuto.

Thirteenth Air Force. 16 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, covered by 20 P-38 Lightning fighters and P-40 fighters and a few Navy F4U Corsair fighter, pound Kahili airfield area, hitting supply and bivouack area Northeast of the strip. 6 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Kakasa.

Henschel Hs 293
was used against the Royal Navy's landing craft HMS LST 79 which was sunk at Ajaccio, France.
