attack vessel off Toeal. A single B-17 Flying Fortress heavy
bombers bombs dock area at Finschhafen.
Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers on harassing strikes hit
Rekata Bay area and Munda airfield. P-38 Lightning fighters
and P-39 fighters join Navy aircraft in pounding runway area
at Munda.
Eleventh Air Force. 6 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, 8 P-40 fighters, and 8 P-38
Lightning fighters fly bombing, photo and attack missions
to Kiska. Targets include North Head, South Head and buildings
and antiaircraft gun batteries on Gertrude Cove.
