The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Mosquitoes made low-level raid at dusk on Zeiss works at Jena, after dark heavy bombers made strong attack on Essen.

Russian Front. Soviet long-range air force aircraft raided railway junctions of Mogilev Karachev and Roslavl.

Eighth Air Force. 11 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) bombers raid docks and Kriegsmarine U-boat pens at Saint-Nazaire.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters bomb harbour defences on Pantelleria. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and B-26 Marauder medium bombers hit Villacidro and Decimomannu airfields. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) P-40 fighters attack targets on South coast of Pantelleria.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers pound Lae town area and airfield. Other B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit enemy forces at Labu and Jacobsens Plantation. Finschhafen, Saidor, Kakakog, and Langgoer are hit by single-plane strikes.

Eleventh Air Force. Attu is covered by 1 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers flying ground support, bombing and strafing troops and dropping photos taken on previous day to friendly forces, and by 1 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and 6 P-38 Lightning fighters flying air cover. 6 P-40 fighters fly attack and reconnaissance missions to Kiska, concentrating on Little Kiska and on the Main Camp area.
