Mitchell medium bombers hit airfields, shipping, and military
concentrations at Pantelleria.
Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24
Liberator heavy bombers attack Messina ferry docks and railroad
yards.
Fifth Air Force. Single United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
heavy bombers bomb coastal airfields and villages, hitting
Madang, Kakakog, Simbang, and Cape Gloucester, and attacking
barges off Gavuvu.
Eleventh Air Force. 12 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 15 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
fly air-ground support and 4 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
and 20 P-38 Lightning fighters fly air cover all over Attu.
18 P-40 fighters fly 1 reconnaissance and 2 attack missions
to Kiska and Little Kiska.
