industrial area. The following day, B-26 Marauder medium bombers
and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Chilivani rail junction,
Alghero-Fertilia and Venafiorita airfields, and Golfo Aranci
shipping and shore installations and other targets in Sardinia.
P-40 fighters sweep South Sardinia, strafing and destroying
trucks near La Maddalena, 2 small vessels in Gulf of Cagliari
and off Capo Spartivento, and aircraft at Capoterra landing
ground.

Liberator heavy bombers strike Sedhes airfield near Salonika.
Tenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers attack road bridge at Shweli. Damage
to target is slight.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers strafe and considerably damage Salamaua
airfield and bomb villages in the area, demolishing 2 villages.
Seventh Air Force. 3 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
heavy bombers from Funafuti fly visual reconnaissance of Nonouti,
Tabiteuea, Onotoa, Tamana Island, Arorae, and Abemama. 2 other
heavy bombers fly sea search mission from Canton Island.
Eleventh Air Force. 16 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
bombers fly 2 weather, an armed reconnaissance, and 2 attack
missions hitting barges near Vega Point Main Camp area, and
North Head.
