Twelfth Air Force. Northwest African Tactical Bomber Force
(NATBF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb gun emplacements
at Gaeta. United States and The British Royal Air Force (RAF)
fighter-bombers of Desert Air Force (DAF) hit strong points
in Santa Maria Imbaro and Poggiofiorito areas. Fighters carry
out patrols and reconnaissance along battle line along Corigliano
and the Sangro River.
Fifteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb harbour at Civitavecchia,
bridge at Fano, and marshalling yard at Chiusi. P-38 Lightning
fighters provide escort to the latter target.
Fourteenth Air Force. 29 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-40 fighters strafe more than 100 sampans and small boats
on Tungting Lake in Li-Chou Changte Ansiang area. 12 P-40
fighters attack 5 vessels, 20 houses, and 100 men at Shihmen
and between Shih men and Li-Chou. 8 others hit troops and
small river boats near Tsowshih 12 P-40 fighters and 4 B-25
Mitchell medium bombers pound town of Tzeli. 4 other B-25
Mitchell medium bombers on shipping sweeps over South China
Sea damage a freighter and blast buildings at Taiping-hsu
airfield.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) A-20
Havoc light bombers again hit Finschhafen area. B-24 Liberator
heavy bombers bomb Gasmata. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit shipping and other targets
in Aroe Islands and off Manokwari.
Thirteenth Air Force. General Twining, Commander Air Solomons
(COMAIRSOLS), is succeeded by General Mitchell, United States
Marine Corps (USMC). A few B-25 Mitchell medium bombers on
shipping search strafe Kieta.
Seventh Air Force. Following the

November 1943 amphibious landings on Tarawa and Makin
Atolls, Seventh Air Force resumes operations against the Marshalls,
in support of the base development phase of GALVANIC (Gilbert
operations) and in preparation for invasion of the Marshalls
(Operations FLINTLOCK and CATCHPOLE). B-24 Liberator heavy
bombers from Funafuti and Nanumea bomb Nauru Island.
