Den Helder docks are attacked by day by the British Royal
Air Force (RAF) bombers, also another heavy night raid took
place on Wilhelmshaven and surrounding areas.
In the Mediterranean. Allied air force heavy bombers attacked
airfields in Crete.
Russian Front. Road and rly from Kursk to Kharkov cleared
of Wehrmacht ground forces.
Twelfth Air Force. Weather prevents bomber operations. Fighters
and Light bombers of XII A Support Command are grounded and
unable to support ground forces as enemy opens attack on Kasserine
with infantry and tanks supported by artillery.
Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers bomb Gabes West area through heavy
clouds.
Tenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Fighters
dive-bomb a Japanese Headquarters at Hpunkizup and afterwards
strafe rail defile South of Meza, burying about 100 ft of
track. 5 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb rail terminal at
Sagaing.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17
Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb shipping and seaplane base
between Buin and Faisi and at Ballale Island, and hit Kahili
airfield. A-20 Havoc light bombers bomb and strafe forces
in Butibum and Angari areas. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
carry out single-plane attacks against shipping at Salamaua,
off Cape Gloucester, and at Gasmata.
Eleventh Air Force. Weather cancels all missions except limited
weather reconnaissance.
