North East of Algiers, Algeria.

attack rail junction at Graiba. Other B-25 Mitchell medium
bombers on shipping strike fail to locate vessels and return
with bombs. Fighters fly routine reconnaissance and patrols
and escort C-47 Skytrain transport aircraft missions.

Liberator heavy bombers bomb Tripoli harbour. P-40 fighters
fly reconnaissance, patrol, top cover, and fighter-bomber
missions as British ground forces pursue enemy toward Tripoli,
reaching positions 10 miles east of Misurata on coast with

Mitchell medium bombers bomb railroad targets North of Monywa.
3 others bomb rail junction at Maymyo.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) A-20
Havoc light bombers strafe Mambare Delta and hit positions
between Bakumbari and Salamaua. B-17 Flying Fortress heavy
bombers bomb landing grounds and shipping in Rabaul. B-25
Mitchell medium bombers again pound supply stores at Lae.
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, operating individually, attack
Finschhafen and Madang wharf areas, Malahang airfield, airfield
at Gasmata, and a vessel Southeast of Rambutyo Island.
Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-39 fighters pound mortar positions near Allied lines on
Guadalcanal. Ground supply lines to Mount Austen battle area
reopen after 3 days of being closed because their extension
outran the capacity of the native carriers. During the 3 days,
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers from Henderson Field airlift
rations, water, and ammunition to the troops, using what improvised
cargo parachutes are available and in many cases wrapping
the supplies in burlap or canvas and pushing them out.
