Marigold which was sunk on

December 1942 after being torpedoed by Italian aircraft
off Algiers, Algeria.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers Lille, St. Omer,
and Abbeville, Essen and the Ruhr had concentrated night raid
by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers.
Russian Front. Soviet troops in Stalingrad broke through to
the western suburbs and consolidated their positions against
the Wehrmacht to ground forces.
In Australasia. Allied bombers and fighters made heavy raids
on Lae and Salamaua, New Guinea, and Gasmata, New Britain.
Eighth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) 64
heavy bombers drop approximately 125 tons of bombs on the
steel works, locomotive works, and marshalling yard at Lille.
Locomotive construction and repair work are seriously impaired.
Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers, with P 38 escort, bomb partially
sunken freighter between Tunisia and Sicily. Fighters fly
uneventful reconnaissance and patrol.
Ninth Air Force. Weather prevents B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
from attacking Tripoli and also causes B-25 Mitchell medium
bombers sent to bomb Bir Dufan to abort. P-40 fighters fly
cover for The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Baltimores.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) A-20
Havoc light bombers bomb and strafe Sanananda Point area and
forces along Sanananda track. heavy bombers and medium bombers
hit dock facilities at Lae and airfields at Lae and Salamaua.
Thirteenth Air Force. Thirteenth Air Force, XIII Bomber Command,
and XIII Fighter Command are activated in South Pacific. Thirteenth
Air Force Headquarter is established on Espiritu Santo, Fighter
Command Headquarter on New Caledonia, and Bomber Command Headquarter
on Espiritu Santo. Commandrs are, General Twining, Thirteenth
Air Force, Colonel Harlan T McCormick, Bomber Command, Colonel
Dean C Strother Fighter Command. P-39 fighters strafe forces
on the beach at Kokumbona and hit Visale in support of ground
offensive. Also medium bombers and fighters hit airfields
and adjacent areas at Munda, and pound Rekata Bay area.
Eleventh Air Force. 3 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
bombers and 4 fighters are in the air. Weather reconnaissance
airplane returns West of Kiska due to high winds. Constantine
Harbor is patrolled until weather forces aircraft to return.
Attack on Kiska is can celled.
