Bad weather causes force sent to bomb Lille, Vendeville airfields
to abandon mission, though a few medium bombers manage to
bomb other targets in the area. A force of 72 B-26 Marauder
medium bombers dispatched to attack Montdidier airfield suffers
numerous aborts due to weather. 6 medium bombers manage to
bomb airfields believed to be secondary target of Amiens,
Glisy.
Twelfth Air Force. Northwest African Tactical Bomber Force
(NATBF) bombers hit shipping at Split and Durazzo. XII A Support
Command and The British Royal Air Force (RAF) fighter-bombers
hit Rocca and nearby gun positions, and trains and troops
South of Rome. Fighters strafe trucks and trains in Rome La
Spezia and Piombino, Leghorn areas.
Fifteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Villarperosa ballbearing
works, and B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers pound bridge
and marshalling yards at Bolzano. P-38 Lightning fighters
escort the B-24 Liberator heavy bombers all the way and accompany
the B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers almost to the target.
Fourteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
Fighters on armed reconnaissance sink 3 large motor boats
in Yoyang Sinti area and damage or sink 15 sampans and a barge
in Hwajung Shasi vicinity.
Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24
Liberator heavy bombers bomb Lakunai airfield, hit new landing
ground on Duke of York Island, and bomb Soerabaja. B-25 Mitchell
medium bombers thoroughly pound Alexishafen airfield.
Thirteenth Air Force. 20 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers carry out strikes on Kara and
Ballale Island airfields and attack shipping between Suhane
Island and Tarlena.
