Germans launched a new attack on 60 mile from between Aumale
and Noyon. By nightfall, German forces had reached Breteuil.
German tank column penetrated French defences and reached
Forges-les-Eaux.
French counter-attacked south of Aisne where Germans had established
a bridgehead.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) continued day and night
battering German communications and objectives. Concealed
ammunition dumps in the Ardennes's bombed. Further raids made
into north west Germany.
During the night of
7-8
June 1940, French naval planes bombed factories near Berlin.
The British Admiralty announced that HMS Carinthia, armed
merchant cruiser, had been sunk by a U-boat.
