Evacuation from Dunkirk, completed at 7 a.m.
Mr Churchill stated in the house that 335,000 British and
French troops were brought out by the Navy, a deliverance,
largely due to the British Royal Air Force (RAF). BEF losses
exceeded 30,000 killed, wounded and missing, included 1000
guns and all transport and armoured vehicles.
The French Admiralty announced that 300 French warships and
merchant vessels with 200 smaller boats, took part in the
evacuation. Five destroyers and a supply ship were lost and
others damaged.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) and French bombers made
reprisal raids during the night of
3-4
June 1940, on Munich, Frankfurt, and the Ruhr and Rhineland
munitions works, oil depots and transport centres.
Le Havre region bombed by enemy planes three hours.
Sir Edmund Ironside General Officer Commander-In-Chief of
the home forces, organising bodies of strongly armed troops
were home defence.
