Events On This Day

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Fighters on patrol shot down two, Italian seaplanes over Adriatic.

British still shelling Bardia. On night of 29-30 December 1940 the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Heavy bombers raided landing-grounds at Gazala and Tobruk.

During night of 30-31 December 1940 the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Bombed Taranto, Naples, and Palermo harbour. Offensive reconnaissance carried out over large area of Somaliland by South African Air Force. Enemy bomber destroyed at Bardera.

During the day a single Luftwaffe aircraft dropped bombs in East Anglia and Kent. Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber machine-gunned streets of one town. No night air activity.

The Greek war, Athens announced successful local operations on different parts of front. More than 1,000 prisoners taken and much material. Greeks now about 16 miles Southeast of Berat. Italian ski detachment broken up.
