Events On This Day

The British warship reported to have sunk four Italian supply ships in Adriatic. Five hundred survivors from ships sunk by Pacific raiders landed at Australian port.

Bombers of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Carried out series of daylight raids on Cologne, oil supplies at Rotterdam and docks at Ymuiden. Important Rhine bridge near Emmerich, North West of Ruhr, also hit. Haamstede Aerodrome and, antiaircraft ship at Flushing bombed.

The war against Italy, Siege of Bardia continued. British patrols now operating more than 70 miles inside Libya.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) attacked enemy troops and motor transport in and to west of Bardia.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Raided Gubba, Assab and Danghila, Italian East Africa. Guerilla warfare being carried out against Italians by bands of Abyssinian rebels.

A few isolated raids by single Luftwaffe aircraft in Kent and Essex. Passenger train in Kent attacked. No night raids.

The Greek war, Greeks occupied more fortified enemy positions north of Chimara. Farther east, Italian withdrawal continued either side of Aoos river. During the night fierce battle was fought in Klisura sector.

Vaiona bombed by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) For 23rd time.
