The British Admiralty announced that the trawler HMS Loch
Inver was overdue and must be presumed lost.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) carried out large scale
night attacks on enemy invasion bases, including French Atlantic
port of Lorient.
Other forces operating over Germany bombed railway yards at
Mannheim rand Hamm, and munition factories at Dusseldorf.
Enemy �planes attempting to raid Haifa driven off.
Mass Luftwaffe attacks in South England were intercepted and
severe losses inflicted, especially near London. Three daylight
attacks on London, when a few bombs caused damage to houses
and an industrial building, and casualties resulted.
Luftwaffe aircraft also reached outskirts of Bristol, where
they were driven off by the British Royal Air Force (RAF)
after lively engagements. Luftwaffe lost 133 aircraft. Britain
lost 34 fighters, but pilots of 16 safe. British and German
guns fought artillery duel across the Channel.
Germany, Italy and Japan signed 10-year military, political
and economic Pact.
