Events On This Day

Cease Fire order sounded at 12:35 a.m. Italian armistice terms published. They included demilitarisation of North African ports, and use by Italians of Jibuti.

Mr Churchill reviewed in house of commons events leading to French capitulation.

Naval and military raiders in conjunction with the British Royal Air Force (RAF) made successful reconnaissances on German coastline. Landings effected and contact made with German troops.

Luftwaffe aircraft crossed British coasts during the night of 25-26 June 1940. Bombs dropped in Midlands. Anti-aircraft guns in action over wide area five raiders shot down.
