Events On This Day

It was announced that General de Gaulle was forming French volunteer Legion in Great Britain, and were setting up French centre for armament and scientific research.

M Corbin, French ambassador in London resigned.

The British air ministry announced that coastal command aircraft wrecked a German aerodrome at Bømoen near Bergen.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made daylight raids into Germany, oil plants and other objectives were bombed. During the night aircraft attacked a seaplane bases at Texel and Helder, and many aerodromes in Holland and Germany.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) scored successes in Africa, raids being carried out on aerodromes at Gura and Macaaca, and on Assab.

Luftwaffe aircraft appeared over Britain during the night of 26-27 June 1940. Bombs were dropped in Northeast England, Northeast Scotland, and in other areas. Three raiders shot down.

Five raids made on Malta.
