Events On This Day

Armistice between France and Italy signed at Rome.

Final communique issued by French Headquarters, stated that German forces had occupied Angoulême and had reached Aix-les-Bains.

On Alpine front Italian attacks continued and Mentone was occupied.

Germans claimed that La Rochelle and Rochefort had been captured.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers raided air bases in Holland and military objectives in Germany.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) attacked Asmara Aerodrome and made desert raid on Biri el Boggi.

Luftwaffe aircraft crossed British coast during the night of 24-25 June 1940, and attacked over a wide area. Bombs dropped on South East and South West regions.

Italian submarine reported destroyed by British Navy east of Suez Canal.

The yacht HMS Campeador V, HMIS Pathan reported sunk.

Blue Star liner Wellington Star reported sunk off Cape Finisterre.
