Events On This Day

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) again bombed Italian aircraft factories at Milan and Turin. Other aircraft attacked aluminium works at Bad Rheinfelden, and chemical works at Waldshut. Aerodromes at Freiburg and Habsheim heavily damaged.

Coastal Command aircraft made another successful attack on Boulogne harbonm.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made first raid on Addis Ababa, securing hits on hangars.

Six hundred Luftwaffe bombers and fighters made mass raids on Britain, attempting to reach London. Dog fights over outer fringe of South London area, where at least one bomber was shot down. Air fighting extended over Thames estuary, Kent, Surrey, Snssex, Hants and the Channel. Attempts made to bomb train, bus and Green Line coach in Southeast area. Luftwaffe lost 152 aircraft. Twenty-two British fighters missing, but 12 pilots safe.
