Events On This Day

The British Admiralty reported sinking of ocean going U-boat in Atlantic after being twice bombed by Australian flying-boat.

The merchant cruiser HMS Vandyck reported sunk by air attack on 10 June 1940.

The Air Ministry disclosed that as result of recent planned action of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) double aqueduct of Dortmund-Ems canal had been put out of action. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made further attacks on barge concentrations in Holland and Belgium.

Coastal Command aircraft` shot down Luftwaffe bomber in Channel, During night the British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers attacked aerodromes at Merville and Hertogenbosch. Oil depots in the Ruhr and Ghent set onfire.

Further raids on Tobruk harbour during night of 16-17 July 1940. Other objectives attacked at El Gubbi, Libya, and at Assab`and`Agordat, Eritrea. Home Front.

Single Luftwaffe raider dropped ll . bombs in Southeast England. Woman and child killed, and others injured.
